Online Extra: Carry crazy
What in the world will these gun lovers want next — to make it mandatory for everyone to carry a gun on their hip?! For peace loving residents appalled at the rampant gun violence in Texas, this a nightmare we don’t want to live through.
We can gather from reading the newspapers and know from statistics that guns are more likely to be used in road rage, bar brawls, gang shootouts and family violence, where innocent people are gunned down, than they are to shoot down the criminal as is the fantasy in the minds of the gun lovers.
If Texas becomes an open-carry state it will encourage more (and questionable) people to carry and we can expect even more gun violence. Do we really want people shooting it out on the streets?
Rational, sane and peace loving citizens, get ready to contact your legislators!
— Jan Crabtree, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Garland

Open carry will likely cause more handgun
ownership. Self defense if nothing else.
Also, a survey was just released. It said
50% of all gun-owner related deaths were
are due to suicide. chilling.

Yeah, shooting it out in the streets just like the prediction that there'd be people killing each other off when the conceal & carry law went into effect a few years ago.
This is the same scare tactics tripe they did here in Minnesota when they passed a conceal-carry law. People are still alive. Criminals still have their guns and still use 'em despite gun grabbers trying to take mine away.

Yes Jan - hopefully open carry will encourage MORE citizens to exercise their rights - and they will have to pass the same tests and checks as I did to get my conceal license. I haven't heard anyone talking about lowering any standard for open vs concealed licenses.
I've been carrying for about 2.5 years now and my gun hasn't shot anyone yet...just thought you'd like to know.
